Turf ships on fixed-width rolls. Your purchase amount is calculated per product based on its roll width — it will differ slightly from your installed area due to how strips tile your space.
Measure the longest length and widest width of each turf area in feet, keeping your tape measure straight and pulled tight. For irregular yards, break the space into simple shapes like rectangles, squares, or triangles, then measure each section separately and add them together. We recommend adding 5–10% extra to account for seams, cuts, curves, and installation waste.

All sales are final. You are responsible for measuring your turf accurately.
Artificial turf comes on rolls with fixed widths (typically 12 ft or 15 ft). To cover your space, rolls are cut into strips — and the strips must be at least as wide as your space requires. Any material beyond your measured edge is unavoidable trim waste.
For example, if your area is 13 ft wide and the roll is 15 ft wide, you use the full 15 ft width even though you only need 13 ft. That extra 2 ft per strip cannot be avoided. This is why your purchase amount will almost always exceed your installed area.
Infill is material — typically silica sand or crumb rubber — brushed into the turf fibers after installation. It weighs the turf down, keeps blades upright, improves drainage, and makes the surface feel more realistic underfoot.
Most installations benefit from infill. For putting greens or very low-pile turf, less is used. For pet areas, antimicrobial infill is recommended.
U-shaped landscape nails secure the turf edges and seams to the base. They are installed every 4–6 inches along all perimeter edges and every 6–12 inches along seams. The estimate shown is area-based — a professional installer may adjust based on your specific layout and perimeter shape.
No, this covers turf only. It does not include other materials (infill, nails) or installation and base preparation.
Break your space into multiple rectangles or circles using the "Add another area" button. An L-shaped yard, for example, can be measured as two separate rectangles. Add each section and the calculator sums them. When in doubt, round up slightly — leftover turf can be saved for future repairs.
Face weight (oz) measures how much fiber is in the turf — higher weight means a fuller, more durable product. Pile height is how tall the blades stand. Taller, heavier turf looks more realistic but costs more.
For high-traffic areas or pets, go with a heavier product. For balconies, putting greens, or seasonal use, a lighter option works well and keeps costs down.
